Bill Barron

My images represent the passage of time so clearly to me, and tell the story of that period of time in my life.  Thoughts and emotions that extend way beyond the sense of the moment: the weather, time of day, and location...  There always is much more than what meets the eye, and for me that is what my photography represents...  On a personal note, it is a great pleasure to get the chance to show my work with my good friend and workmate Paul.  I have always appreciated his passion for painting and the arts.  Hope you enjoy!

Paul Reynolds studied art at the University of California and at the University of Utah, graduating in 1976.  He has exhibited his work since 1980.  Recent exhibitions include solo shows at The Gallery at Library Square, Main Salt Lake City Public Library; and SU Gallery, Southern Oregon University, Ashland.  Group shows include Rocky Mountain Biennial, Museum of Contemporary Art, Fort Collins.

“There are secrets embedded in these paintings.  They are conversations with myself, sometimes notes to others, and include writing and little drawings and marks that build up in layers and make a history of shifting thoughts and sensibilities.

It is important to me that the paintings feel hand-wrought.  I choose a deliberate awkwardness over grace. I want to approach the work with an attitude of generosity and disclosure, and hope to make art that loses the restrictions of logic and design.

It is hugely fun for me to show these paintings with Bill’s fabulous photography.”
