“There are secrets embedded in
these paintings. They
are conversations with myself, sometimes notes to others,
and include writing and little drawings and marks that
build up in layers and make a history of shifting thoughts
and sensibilities.
It is important to me that the
paintings feel hand-wrought. I
choose a deliberate awkwardness over grace. I want to
approach the work with an attitude of generosity and
disclosure, and hope to make art that loses the restrictions
of logic and design.
It is hugely fun for me to show
these paintings with Bill’s fabulous photography.”
